TiAlN performs especially well in dry or controlled high-temperature cutting because it is designed to manage heat. Intermittent coolant contact can create thermal cycling in some operations, so flood coolant, mist, through-tool delivery, or dry cutting should be selected based on the material, machine, and toolmaker recommendations.
